The Birth of the Cup-Holster

It all started in a cluttered dorm room on a college campus in Washington state. My friend had just bought a brand new keyboard, and that very same night, it was ruined by a spilled drink. While driving to Taco Bell for a late-night snack, I thought to myself: "If cars have cup holders, why don't desks?"

I immediately searched online to see if there were any existing solutions, but I found nothing. As a young computer science major with a passion for innovation, I decided to tackle the problem myself.

Early Prototypes

My initial prototypes were scrappy creations, glued together from pieces of scrap sourced from local auto parts stores. Although rough, these early models convinced me of the genuine usefulness of a dedicated desk cup holder. Many might wonder, "Why not just place the drink directly on the desk?" For me, however, every inch of desk space was precious. Having at least three monitors on my desk for nearly a decade, along with a full-size keyboard, mouse, and notepad, meant desk real estate was constantly dwindling.

From Prototype to Product

After refining the prototypes and 3D printing several mock-ups, I decided it was time to take the leap into full-scale manufacturing. We designed custom plastic injection molds and, through a process of trial and error combined with years of effort and perseverance, created the Cup-Holster as you see it today.

Made in America, Protecting Desks Worldwide

Proudly manufactured locally, right here in America, the Cup-Holster is now sold worldwide, with over 100,000 units protecting desks from spills around the globe. I personally use three at a time on my own desk—one for my coffee and two for my large Stanley tumblers filled with water. They've saved me from countless disasters, and my goal is for you to experience the same level of drink security that I've come to appreciate.

If you've purchased or plan to purchase a Cup-Holster, thank you! I hope it serves you well and prevents spills for many years to come.
